Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea compound that inhibits sulfonylurea 1 (SUR1) receptors, exhibiting anti-diabetic and antioxidative activities. Inhibition of these receptors closes K+ ion channels, inducing cell membrane depolarization, altering Ca2+ homeostasis, and stimulating insulin release.
