D,L-Tetrahydropalmatine is an alkaloid found in Corydalis and Stephania that exhibits analgesic, antinociceptive, anxiolytic, antidepressant, and anti-parasitic activities. This compound inhibits D1/2 receptors and may also inhibit L-type Ca2+ channels and some K+ channels. D,L-Tetrahydropalmatine decreases anxiety measures in the elevated plus maze and alters thresholds in assays of thermal, mechanical, and chemical pain. D,L-Tetrahydropalmatine also inhibits growth of Plasmodium.
