Deslorelin is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that is used to control fertility and treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in veterinary medicine. Deslorelin decreases expression of GnRH receptors and levels of testosterone, decreasing the volume of the testes and prostate in many male animal models. In male animals, deslorelin is used to instill sterility. In female animals, this peptide is used to induce estrous.
