Description

Clofibric acid is a metabolite of clofibrate that activates PPARα receptors and inhibits auxin activity, exhibiting anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-angiogenic, anticancer chemotherapeutic, and herbicidal activity. Clofibric acid alters plant hormone activity and is used as a plant growth regulator. Clofibric acid also inhibits phosphatidylethanolamine synthesis, decreasing production of cholesterol and activity of HMG-CoA reductase and ACAT. Additionally, clofibric acid suppresses production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and VEGF, decreases vessel density, and inhibits tumor growth in animal models of ovarian cancer. TEST!!!!!!
