Description

Cyclophosphamide is a nitrogen mustard that acts as an alkylator, adding alkyl groups to the N7 nitrogen of guanine bases; this inhibits DNA repair and replication. Cyclophosphamide exhibits anticancer chemotherapeutic and immunomodulatory activities. This compound is one component in the CHOP chemotherapy regimen. Cyclophosphamide is clinically used to treat various cancers, graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematous (SLE).
