Telbivudine is an antiviral and immunomodulatory compound that is commonly used to treat chronic hepatitis B infections. Telbivudine is the L-isomer of thymidine and acts as a nucleoside analog. Clinically, telbivudine increases expression of CD127 on CD8+ memory T cells; this compound also decreases hepatitis B viral DNA and normalizes levels of alanine aminotransferase. TEST!!!!!!
